So is there a boycott Advance? Well, that depends on what you consider a boycott. To most people it's just the kind of behavior that only cheaters and people who want to tarnish your name have. So then we have the side of those who love Apple products. They are the Mac users that feel they've been hoodwinked by Advance because Apple constantly updates their applications without any warning to stop the advance of these new programs.
On the other hand you have the loyalists who believe in the developer's right to update their applications and that they aren't forced to use the free application by Apple. So why do these people hate Advance? Are they ignorant? No, they're not ignorant at all. Because it isn't true that Apple forces their developers to use these free applications. They didn't say they wouldn't make it free, but they didn't use it as an excuse to force their developers to use the free program either.
There is software out there that comes free. As long as it's not in a way that harms a customer or their computers then they will distribute it. Why do they have to force the developers to use the free version? Is there some kind of conspiracy? I don't think so. But I think the developers that freely distribute their applications find that they get better sales. Free can be free or paid for.
